I own a small, stainless, hand grind pepper mill. The bottom became moist and the grinder is all gummed up. There is no help on the web, although a couple of places say, "Never wash in water." Any ideas?
Take a piece of bread (make sure it is fresh and not stale or hard), break up into chunks, put in the mill and turn it on. The moisture in the bread, plus the movement of the blades will help to dislodge and bind the stuff that is stuck in it. Then, just toss in the garbage!! (If it's really stuck, you might need to repeat, but I've never needed to do it more than once,)
